Who We AreIt seems that in this day of faster, easier, more and yes, even more, the heart and hand of Americanism has been set aside, the pride and value of an individual's accomplishment sometimes overshadowed by the big picture.
Today we have webs and mice and rams, modems and hard drives, gigs, and gifs. Technology has made unprecedented strides in recent years, strides that touch each of us everyday, even those who don't own a P.C. We can't ignore it nor should we try. Instead, we at Yankee Harvest, LLC have sought to integrate the two, using technology to remind us all that another part of the world remains. Things are still handmade; beauty and innovation still come from the minds and souls of some very talented people. And if you notice, so many of the wonderful crafts out there today take us back into our past and country's history. What is old is new again.
Foods have taken on a new look and a new taste. We consume foods that our grandparents never heard of. Even in the grocery store, new and different items appear every day. We enjoy more ethnic flavors, are introduced to spices, fruits and vegetables that have been staples in other countries for generations. The kitchen can be an exciting place for many reasons. Don't just regard it as a room in which you house a microwave. Use it and use it well.
And one way of using it well is to have a garden… big or small… it doesn't matter. Watch it grow and produce. Let the scent of fresh herbs greet you each morning. Allow the tending of that garden to be a source of relaxation and rejuvenation. Use what you grow and enjoy the process. The one advantage we have today is that if a beetle gets to your green beans before you do, you can go to the grocer's for a replacement.
Yankee Harvest, LLC and its sister sites Yankee Gardener and Yankee Postcards, are dedicated to offering quality and we are always looking out for new and unique "American Made" items to bring to you. Half the fun is stumbling over a really special, beautifully made accessory for hearth and home, or an interesting taste sensation, the other half, is being able to offer it to the world…!
